5 Ways to Be Still and Know That He Is God

Life has a way of stirring up all kinds of emotions—love, worry, guilt, even frustration. Sometimes it feels like we’re carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders, and it’s in those moments that God whispers: “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

Here are five simple ways to practice stillness and trust:

  1. Pause Before You React

When emotions rise, take a breath before responding. Sometimes the holiest thing we can do is to pause and let God speak into the moment before we act.

  1. Lay It Down in Prayer

Being still doesn’t mean bottling things up. It means pouring it out before God and letting Him carry what you cannot. Whisper His name and trust that He hears.

  1. Set Healthy Boundaries

Being still is also about knowing your limits. You can love people deeply without taking on their battles. Boundaries are not rejection—they’re a way of trusting God to do what only He can do.

  1. Find Peace in His Word

Open your Bible and rest in promises like Isaiah 26:3: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.” His Word stills the storm inside us.

  1. Release the Outcome

This is the hardest one—trusting God with what happens next. Being still means believing He’s already gone ahead of us, and that His plan is greater than our worry.

✨ Closing Thought:

Stillness isn’t weakness. It’s strength in surrender. When we stop striving to control everything, we discover the peace of letting God be God.
