Bloom Where You’re Planted — Even If You Didn’t Choose the Field
Updated: Oct 5
I have always loved sunflowers. There’s something about them that feels hopeful. They stand tall, turn toward the light, and somehow make an ordinary field look extraordinary. Maybe that’s why this picture means a little more to me today.
Embracing Life's Seasons
Life has taught me that we don’t always get to choose the field where we’re planted. Sometimes, we find ourselves in seasons we never expected. These can be seasons of change, loss, starting over, waiting, healing, and learning who we are again.
And sometimes, if we’re being completely truthful, we look around and think, Lord, this is definitely not where I thought I’d be. But God has a beautiful way of growing things in unexpected places.
Finding Beauty in the Ordinary
I’m learning that a meaningful life isn’t necessarily one where everything went according to plan. It’s one where we keep looking for the beauty God tucked into the middle of it.
Think about those quiet moments:
A quiet morning.
A grandchild’s laugh.
A river running over old stones.
Paint on a brush.
A friend who checks on you.
A sunset you almost didn’t notice.
A field full of sunflowers beside an ordinary road.
Those little things aren’t really little at all. They are reminders.
There is still beauty here.
There is still purpose here.
There is still something worth noticing.
Hopeful Havens 20: A Resting Place
That is part of what I want Hopeful Havens 20 to be—a little resting place in a noisy world. A place for art, nature, encouragement, faith, and the imperfect beauty of everyday life.
I don’t have everything figured out. Not even close. 😉 But I know this:
I want to keep creating.
I want to keep noticing.
I want to keep choosing gratitude.
And most of all, I want to keep turning toward the Light.
Maybe blooming where you’re planted doesn’t mean pretending you love every season. Maybe it simply means trusting that God can still grow something beautiful there.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
— Ecclesiastes 3:1
Discovering Beauty Around You

The Power of Faith
Faith is a guiding light. It helps us navigate through the darkest times. When we lean on our faith, we find strength we didn’t know we had. In moments of doubt, remember that faith can be your anchor.
Choosing Gratitude
Gratitude transforms our perspective. It shifts our focus from what we lack to what we have. Each day, take a moment to reflect on the blessings in your life. Even the smallest ones can bring immense joy.
The Journey of Healing
Healing is a journey, not a destination. It takes time and patience. Allow yourself to feel, to grieve, and to grow. Surround yourself with love and support. Remember, it’s okay to ask for help.
Embracing Change
Change can be daunting. Yet, it often brings new opportunities. Embrace the unknown with an open heart. Trust that every change is a step toward growth and discovery.
The Beauty of Community
We are not alone in our journeys. Community provides support, encouragement, and love. Reach out to those around you. Share your experiences and listen to theirs. Together, we can uplift one another.
Conclusion: A Message of Hope
As we walk through life, let’s remember to look for the beauty in every season. Let’s cherish the little moments and hold onto hope. Together, we can create a world filled with love, faith, and encouragement.
With love,
Rhonda
