Life Review

Every now and then, I take a step back and look at the path I’ve walked — not to dwell on the past, but to learn from it.

Sometimes it feels like flipping through the pages of an old scrapbook: a few tears, some laughter, a few moments that make me shake my head and whisper, “Thank You, Lord, for bringing me through that one.”

But when I think about doing a life review, I’ll be honest — it stirs up all kinds of thoughts and emotions. My mind races through moments I’d rather forget, and my heart feels the weight of things I wish I’d done differently.

There’s a part of me that doesn’t want to face the bad choices, the hurtful words, or the times I fell short. I don’t want to relive the pain I caused others or the regret that sometimes still lingers.

And yet… even in that discomfort, there’s a gentle whisper from God that says, “You’re not defined by what you’ve done. You’re refined by what you’ve learned.”

That truth makes me want to live differently. To forgive more freely. To speak more kindly. To be slower to judge and quicker to love. A life review doesn’t have to be about guilt — it can be a holy pause where grace meets growth.

Because when we invite God into our reflection, He doesn’t replay our mistakes to shame us — He reveals them to heal us.

Scripture Focus

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

— Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)

These words remind me how powerful my voice is — not just in what I say to others, but in what I speak over myself.

When I choose words of life, hope, and truth, I begin to see my story through God’s eyes instead of my regrets.

🙏

Prayer

Lord,

Thank You for the gift of reflection. Help me to see my past not through shame, but through Your mercy.

Heal the places where I’ve caused pain — in myself and in others — and give me the courage to live better from this moment forward.

Teach me to speak life over my days and walk in the freedom of Your grace.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
