When the Soul Needs a Gentle Whisper

Some days, the world is loud.
Not just with traffic, phones, or headlines—but with the noise of our own thoughts. Lists to finish, worries that sneak in, old hurts that still echo.
But then, there are days like this. Days when the heart isn’t asking for more words or more answers—it’s asking for stillness.
This afternoon, as the sun was going down over the mountaintops, I sat with my coffee in the quiet. There was this almost tangible sense of peace hanging in the air. No music. No phone. Just me, my Bible, and the sound of the clock ticking.
And in that space, I felt the Lord whisper to my spirit:
"Be still, and know that I am God." — Psalm 46:10
Stillness isn’t always easy. It means setting down the phone when you want to scroll. It means letting the dishes wait a little longer. It means not rushing to fill the silence with words—just letting it breathe.
It’s in those unhurried moments that we realize God’s presence isn’t something we have to chase. He’s already here. And when we finally quiet the clamor, we hear His voice—not in a roar, but in a gentle, steady whisper that says:
"You’re safe here. You’re loved here. You can rest."
So if your soul feels tired today, don’t push for noise or action. Create your own little sanctuary—maybe it’s a cozy chair by the window, a candle flickering, or a favorite blanket draped over your lap. Let the Lord meet you there, in the calm.
Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply… stop. And listen.
Be still today.
With love,
Rhonda Wright
